circa April 22, 2005 CE: We had our first major guild gathering tonight! Teron and I traveled from Mirith to Lerilin to pick up Mormegil and Leonia, and then we sailed across the sea to Marali (after escaping many sea serpents and a dozen or so giant spiders). Once at Marali, we picked up our dear hermit Manta, and then we traveled back with Bolverker and Inferno of the Night Watch (and two old veterans) back to Mirith to find Escalus... but he was dead in the wilderness! We went on a rescue mission to find him, and shortly after arriving, Escalus was resurrected by a mysterious force and we sensed a powerful presence - a forest dragon! After some discussion and planning, we eventually engaged the dragon in combat. Sadly, Manta fell in combat, but we slew the dragon shortly after - her death was not in vain, and her bravery was admirable. We then returned to Mirith with hopes and plans for a future adventure. And let it be known: Ragnarok is the first guild to slay a dragon!
circa April 16, 2005 CE: Welcome to Ragnarok's new website! Many members of the guild played as pre-beta testers before the opening of Oberin v018 to public testing on April 1, 2005. Since then, we have reemerged as the First Guild in the new world of Oberin. Our numbers are as of yet small as compared to our original number, but our spirit is strong and we hope to recruit old hands and young, adventurous spirits.
Stay tuned for more news from the returning warriors of Ragnarok!

circa February 15, 2002 CE: Since the interrupted Auction of the Desert Guild Hall, a great undertaking has been presented by the Royal Mage Seth in an effort to resist the actions of the Sorcerer Council. This message was sent to Oberin citizens:
Ploog has opened some sort of evil portal in the Ice Dungeon.
After studying the tomes, Seth has devised a way to close the portal.
Seth needs 13 Crystal Skulls and a DragonRubyHeart to make a Dragonstone.
The Dragonstone Ring made from the Dragonstone would allow the wearer to be invisible to the eyes of Dragons, in particular, the many Black Dragons currently trampling the grounds of the Ice Dungeon. A sorcerer by the name of Pete appears to be guarding the portal as well, so it appears that this man will have to be defeated by the ringbearer in order to close the portal in the Ice Dungeon. The quest for the Crystal Skulls and the DragonRubyHeart continues...
circa February 8, 2002 CE: The Desert Guild Hall Auction was to occur on Friday evening at 9PM CST, but the competition was interrupted by the appearance of the Sorcerer Ploog, enemy of the Royal Mage Seth and the Royal Family, leader of the Sorcerer Council (aka Sorcerer's Guild). Ploog appeared once briefly inside the castle and stated that the King was ill, and then when the Royal Cleric Clarisa went to check on the King's condition, Ploog reappeared and confronted the crowd gathered in front of the castle.
(Seth): What have you done to the King Ploog?!
(Ploog): As I do with all my enemies. But that's not important right now.
(Ploog): The time for the royals has come and gone.
(Ploog): All of you here have chosen to bow and scrap to the elderly King.
(Fool Coco): Curse you Ploog
(Seth): You don't have that power Ploog.
(Ploog): Shut up, you overblown clown.
(Ploog): OH BUT I DO!
(Ploog): As we speak, I have released ICY BLACK DEATH!
(Fool Coco): I fear not such a near-sighted example of a scare crow
(Ploog): Soon it will cover the world and cleanse it with blood!
(Seth): You are truly mad.
(Ploog): All of you will pay with your lives!
(Ploog): Mad you say!? Is it mad to want to rule the insects of this world?
(Ploog): You all cannot stop my plans!
(Ploog): And to show I'm serious....
(Seth): You will never succeed.
(Ploog): *MORA OLSA PREDILAIN*
Ploog summoned several dozen rust beasts, giants, and sea serpents amongst the crowd of people. Few survived the massive attack, though many fought bravely. Ploog himself escaped nearly unscathed, and Seth and Clarisa turned the tide of the battle at the gates of the castle by resurrecting many of Oberin's brave citizens. It seems that the war has begun, at last. (The Desert Guild Hall auction is postponed till a later date, if the King recovers from his illness).
circa February 5, 2002 CE: The History section has been updated with photographs by Sir Adgit of Ragnarok!
circa February 1, 2002 CE: The History Section has several new additions to the Photography section regarding recent events surrounding the appearance of Deven, the conflict between Ploog and the Royals, and the summoning of Theseus and Teron to the Sorcerer Council.
circa January 27, 2002 CE: Theseus and Teron were summoned by Ploog to the Sorcerer Council to deliver a message to the people of Oberin: "Will you stand against us and with Seth and his old doddering king? Or will you step aside for the council?" After a number of taunts and insults were issued about the weakness of Oberin citizens against Ploog's minions, Theseus and Teron were returned to Oberin City. This event marks a new episode in the conflict between the Sorcerer Council and the Royal Family of Oberin. Recently, the Royal Mage Seth and a mysterious fighter Abe exchanged words and blows with Ploog and his right hand man, Greil

circa January 15, 2002 CE: There are a number of new photographs in the History section of the Ragnarok website (from Mithrandir, Teron, and our newest photographer, MantaRay!).
circa January 5, 2002 CE: The South River Hall was awarded to..... Ragnarok! The competition was a game of flags at PvP Island, referred to as the "badlands" by King Austin, that involved four guilds: Unagi-Ya, Inc.; Flying Column, Order of Entropy, and Ragnarok. The four guilds were to capture four of their team color's flags from each of the guilds halls on PvP island. The three competing members for Ragnarok were Adgit, IcarusFalls, and Mithrandir. They returned the red flags just a moment before momo-f, guild leader of Unagi-Ya, returned with his yellow flags. A very valiant effort by all of the guilds that participated; the concession awards were Neptune's Tridents. And now, at last, Ragnarok has a home! Ragnarok Island!
circa January 3, 2002 CE: The South River Hall is ready for ownership. The guild competition will be held on January 5 at 10 PM EST.
circa December 30, 2001 CE: In the aftermath of a previous duel, a mysterious level 15 fighter walked up to the crowd assemble at the dark island. He asked for Phoenix I (who fought in the previous duel) whom he wished to duel. Sir Adgit, the brave fighter of Ragnarok, challenged the newcomer in black, Abe. The great battle that ensued lasted through the hours. Abe wielded many rare weapons including a Long Sword of Speed and War Hammer of Power. The blows struck Adgit hard, but Adgit resisted the blows and kept fighting. Once a fair fight was insured beyond interruptions from the crowd, the battle of attrition winded down as the supplies of potions dwindled. Abe frequently hid from Adgit, and Adgit responded with taunts. "Fight me like a man!" Once dusk fell, the battle was decided. Adgit struck a final blow, and the fighter Abe was defeated. As a strange coincidence, the world suddenly went completely dark... twice... following the battle, as if a supernatural power had been destroyed. Sir Adgit is the victory today.

circa December 12, 2001 CE: Ragnarok's legendary cleric IcarusFalls continues his strive for divinity as he has now reached an overall level of 11! Also, the Trince Guild Hall is now ready for ownership, and all guilds interested in the hall must be at King Austin's castle on Thursday the 20th of December at 10 pm EST.
circa December 12, 2001 CE: Our esteemed fighter Theseus is now Master Theseus of Ragnarok! Another of our fighters, Mormegil, and our resident rogue, Leonia, have received the title of Noble from the King!
circa December 5, 2001 CE: The North Island Guild Hall was won by the guild Scrap, a new Japanese guild, in a competitive race with the new North American guild, The Academy. The Academy was represented by Telemachos of The Enlightened and Scrap was represented by Kashue. Telemachos was awarded with a Red Robe of Protection as a consolation prize.

The duel involved two members of each guild. Abashiri also payed 400k for the purchase of the hall near the Ice Dungeon. The two members of Tribe who participated in the guild competition received Katanas of Speed as consolation prizes.
circa November 22, 2001 CE: Happy Thanksgiving to all Oberin citizens! A new screenshots section has been added to the History/Story section of the Ragnarok website.
circa November 21, 2001 CE: A buildup of magic resistance amongst Oberin wildlife has resulted in a reduction of wizarding power. Many of Oberin's finest wizard mages are leaving their school of training in order to become fighters and druids. If this trend continues, there won't be many wizards left in the land of Oberin, thus ending the legacy of offensive spellcasting in Oberin. Will wizards ever recover their former power? Only the gods of Oberin can decide. There are a few wizards who intend to hold on till the end...
circa November 18, 2001 CE: The Gods have decided to alter their creation. Lord Glenn instituted a "server update" that made a few adjustments to the game: logging off is now instantaneous, crafting times are faster, and in order to protect endangered species, some creatures have undergone significant mutations with accomodations for health and vitality (particularly gapers and lizard men).
circa November 17, 2001 CE: Ragnarok warriors Adgit, Mithrandir, Phoenix I and Theseus (accompanied by Sam, currently a member of The Griffin) went to PvP Island today to lay siege to the rumored "Giant Fort." The warriors travelled to the southwest fort on the island and eventually slew about a dozen of the gargantuan beasts. At the same time, a Real-Time Quest was occuring near the Abandoned Castle southwest of the Great Desert. A horde of trolls was attacking an empty brigand camp nearby, and the questers were ordered to kill the trolls.
circa November 14, 2001 CE:The Library of Ragnarok has a new volume to available to the public: The Market Annex. It is a general reference for trading and sale prices of items including natural resources, potions, and special items. The Annex will be updated according to the Oberin market's fluctuations (based on changes in the game). The Annex is meant to provide a general guideline for people to sell their products and harvests or buy items they need without the fear of being overcharged.
circa November 13, 2001 CE: A battle between Oberin citizens and the Sorcerers occured this evening. A band of North American and Japanese players joined forces against the evil sorcerer Ploog and his cohorts. Ploog was able to continuously resurrect his cohorts, and he was even able to summon Red Dragons that appeared, spit out plumes of flame, then disappeared without a trace. The band of fighters managed to slay many of the Sorcerers as Ploog continued to demand them to "Leave now!", but we also suffered many casualities. Chiron, Theseus, IcarusFalls and Mithrandir fought in the battle.
According to the Royal Mage Seth who accompanied the Town Crier to award the battle-weary fighters, Ploog was his former right-hand man who succumbed to the temptations of the forces of evil. Seth even went as far as to admit that Ploog may be more powerful than he is. Clearly, any previous indications that the Royal Family's guard would be able to defend Oberin without the help of the guilds are now questionable. The Town Crier has now taken to accepting bounties for the heads of Sorcerers. And thus, the war continues with a new arch villain.
On a much brighter note, the King's Court now has a place for one of our most esteemed members: Sir Adgit. Formerly Master Fighter Adgit of Ragnarok received his promotion last night amidst the other ground-breaking events.
circa November 13, 2001 CE: The first auction for the Mince guild hall occured tonight at 9pm CST, resulting in the sale of the hall to a new guild, Griffin, for which there has been much. Shortly before the scheduled time, the audience hall (throne room) of the castle was swarming with masses of Oberin citizens eager to see their king for the first time. King Austin finally arrived escorted by the Royal Scout, Sir Travis, a few minutes late, and he explained that his son, Prince Ian, was nearly murdered during a failed kidnapping attempt. The King asked that only the bidding parties remain in the eastern section of the throne room, yet the crowd remained enthralled by his presence. The mysterious guild Griffin has finally shown its face; it announced its existence at the auction for the guild hall at Mince tonight. Both Eversor and Goth, formerly of Weapons and Warriors, bid on the hall in state of confusion, but they eventually paid the starting price of 300 thousand gold pieces. The Noble Adraine is currently the leader of Griffin. The event was a remarkable one, one to remember in days to come. What implications will it have on the world of Oberin? The King asked the young guild to defend the realm of Oberin. So must we all.
circa November 11, 2001 CE: A Library of Knowledge will soon be available. The information pertaining to the Kingdom of Oberin was acquired through research at the Royal Library (where books cannot be checked out) in Oberin City and through field work and observations performed by the many esteemed members of the guild Ragnarok.
circa November 10, 2001 CE: The Oberin client has been updated to version 0.17b, and the server ISP has been changed from @home Cable service to DSL. Hopefully, this change will reduce the significant lag difficulties. A few bugs were fixed, including a sound bug and a bug allowing players to continue targeting creatures that have been recently tamed. This bug, in the past, was sometimes used an as an exploit for dragonslaying.
circa November 10, 2001 CE: The new website for the Order of Ragnarok has been developed! Ragnarok Members, please turn in your profiles.

The information pertaining to the Kingdom of Oberin was acquired through research at the Royal Library (where books cannot be checked out) in Oberin City and through field work and observations performed by the many esteemed members of the guild Ragnarok.

This bug, in the past, was sometimes used an as an exploit for dragonslaying.
